Could someone tell me what:--" 7ob msh ma7soob 3alaya" means`?
it means : this love isnt counted on me ..
its like you say this love dont fit me or im not meant for this love
count here means in a math way
7ob : love
msh : not / is not
m7soob : counted / calculated /considered...
3alaya : on me

ooh yes, i meant their. SHUKRAN very much!! haha speaking of which how do you say very much? lol but yeaah thanks soo much , i think my is ya but i`m not sure. is the arabic you learned gulf or central or egyptian/african?
they vary soo much it gets confusing .
by the way i noticed sometimes like certain words when you are trying to say yours or mine end in another way
like for your love it would be - hawak right ?
so could u explain to me why there`s such endings and how it works

***Well..Shukran (Thkank U),but when U want to say THANK U VERY MUCH,U can say: Shukran jazilan
Another word for VERY MUCH is also: Jeddan
I'm in arabic course,but I can't speak arabic veerrrry well yet.. I'm working on it. In the course they teach us not egyptian or khaliji..but like real arabic,I don't know what they call,though It's the arabic accent that they speak everywhere in the arab world! Do U understand what I mean?
I think HAWAK is more like lebanese,if I'm not wrong..but your love in the arabic I'm learning is: HOBBAK (your love).
& Giiirl,trust me..These whole arabic accents is sooo confusing!

you're learning Modern Standard Arabic, the kind that is used in the news and books. it's quite different from any of the dialects, but if you want music in standard arabic try Kazem el-Saher he is quite prolific and sings mostly poetry. also Marcel Khalifa does a lot of MSA songs
There are like a million words for love in arabic. Hobb is the most basic, but there is also hawa, gharam, 3ashq, shouq, wajd, dunnaa, mahebba and really there are even more with all different subtle connotations!

The possession system in arabic is pretty simple and in every dialect the do it the same way with some variation. I'll give an example using Egyptian
Habib = Darling
Habibi = My darling
Habibak = Your Darling
Habibik = Your (fem) Darling
Habibo = His Darling
Habibha = Her Darling
Habibkom = Your (plural) Darling
Habibhom = Their Darling
There are different suffixes for possession
To say "my" and "mine" there are also some different things
Ya can mean "O" but also "my" It is used to address someone. So when I say Ya Layla it's like O Layla or Hey Leyla, but in English this not mandatory. If you say Ya Habib it could mean Oh Darling, but sometimes in english as well we will say My Darling.
Christeen gave the example of how to say mine and yours etc in a Palestinian dialect. There are a number of ways of doing it. For example
Btaa3i = Mine (Egypt)
Mtaa3i = Mine (Lebanon)
Ntaa3i = Mine (Algeria)
Ili = Mine (Palestine)
Dyaali = Mine (Morocco)
Maali = Mine (Iraq)
Haggi = Mine (Parts of the Gulf)
Li = Mine (In many dialects and MSA)
The problem here is that originally arabic did not have a way to say this really, so all the dialects have innovated different ways separately. This is not usually how possession is expressed, it is usually using the suffixes shown above, but it does come up often

Hi everyone
Can anyone help me translate a couple of songs the way Rock Star did with the english font and the meaning in english as I can only speak a little arabic but I can't read arabic script. I have just started taking lessons to learn the proper arabic. This site has been a great help giving the meaning to such beautiful songs, I am so happy I found it and Thank You to all who do the translations!!!!!

Yea,exactly..That's the type of arabic I learn,but is it useless?I mean,should I start leaning dialects,is that a better way to learn arabic?
Because I wanna be a very good arabic-speaker...
