I once was told that the title means: I never promised you the stars from heaven.

But it would be great if somebody could translate this song.

I was trying to understand many of the words from this songs but even though I know some of the words it wasn't making any sense to me
for example ana zalami 3ad el 7al I knew it means i'm a simple man
but wumamlikty off we mawal ?!?!? I know what mawal means , we use the same word and meaning in Hebrew (for mizra7i music) but off was a blure

here is a another
wa la batara7a mn 5iyoot al shams I didn't know what 5iyoot means
now I know it means strings or rays , and here is the funny thing ,do you know how we say string in Hebrew ? ...... 7oot , very similar ha...5iyoot =7oot how did I meesed it LOL
I though طرحة (tara7a) means a bride's vail is it also mean a dress ?

off is a word that we say sometimes in our songs it expresses the pain

yes tar7a means the bride's vail but i couldn't explain it

fot your answer. Do you or the others know, what "signs" does a music have so it could be used for dabke dance?

I hope I don´t anoy oder bore you all with my questions and statements about dance. But dance is a very important thing in my life.

tahira..........you're not bothering anyone,i really want to help you since you're interested in arabic music and dance ,people like you are few
any way,concerning your question the song is considered as a dabke song when there is a lot of drums beats in it and also the voice of the singer should be tough and strong like najwa karam,assi el hellani,wael kfouri,fares karam ,these people's voices are called the voice of the mountain(sawt jabali)
you're never sure ,you just have to know if it is a dabke song or not

Sorry I should know. Larosa means the rose (el ward) in Spanish.

A question : Don't you think it should be better to translate the verse bellow

و شفت الدني اعياد و غناني دهب و قصور ما بوعد حدى

into " and days for me were like feasts and songs, I don't promise to anybody gold and castles " instead of "and days for me were like feasts , golden songs and castles,i don't promise any body". When he sings the song there is a pause after ghinany.

He says : shift iddny a3yad w '3inany (pause) and then dahab w qussur ma bw3ad hada
