Default Basbousa and Helwa di

Someone knows the lirycs of this two old songs? the first one is from Amani, and played by Bassem Yazbeck. And the other was recorded by many, as Fairuz, Dania, Marcel Khalife, etc.

Hi Anuarbellydancer,

give me some time, somewhere I have the lyrics and translation for Basboussa, but I need to check all my magazines. I only remember that it is about a spoiled young man and his granny or mother is the best. Basboussa is the name for a sweet cake/dessert.

I´ll be back.

Happy hips, Tahira

Now I have found the lyrics. The arabic lyrics are written in latin letters but as I have to type them letter by letter I will translate for you the german translation into english. However, if you should still need the arabic part, please inform me an I will write them down for you:

His grandma has made Basboussah for him
With fat (butter) sugar and honey,
a lot of honey, oh how sweet
so much, that the honey is melting!
Grandma is the best (4 x)
He kisses his grandm with fat (butter), sugar and honey.

His grandma has made basbusah vor him, and his mom brought him water
but he is hanging around everywhere and doesn´t want to go to work.
To make it brief (- and that´s absurd !)
He wasn´t good at school and now he doesn´t look for a job!
(mocking You little infant, you baby, you are even not able to wipe your sticky mouth !
Are you a man or a jumping jack ?

ya Tablah..... ya bassem.... let her dance.... and move...
and balady.... great... Aywah

Keep shimmying, Tahira

Basbussah in arabic with latin letters:

Sittuh basbisitluh basbussah
bissammni wissukkar wilassal
assal wukassiff ya hussah
assal wudayib filassal
Tisitti ubass (4x)
bussah bilsamn wilsukkar wilassal - Sittuh

Sittuh basbisaluh - wumama msa`iyaluh (2x)
dayir walah ala baluh wala ayis yischtagal
khulassah wumusch khulassah wislah minger russasah
lä falih biddirasah wala yischufluh hamal
ingirah ya nunu ingirah arfah halti dbgah

dä afandi walläh sa`ah matruh matitmassam

attablah... ya Bassem... ra`assha.... wuna`ilha...
wilbaladi... ya häyäh.... saltanha..... schahlilha - Aywah...

I have written it down from a german belly dance magazin. It was originally written from a syrian professional dancer living in Germany.
short explanation: Ä - you speake almost like E
and SCH - is similar pronouncation to the english SH

For Ahmed Addaweia I cannot help, unfortunatelly. I even couldn´t find the lyrics with google.

Happy hips, Tahira
