Hi,

I need help to correct my translation of Allamouny. Here is my try :

علموني - الأخوين رحباني

They warned me

W altaaina w inhaka alayna
And we met and ( it was said ill of us ???? )

علموني حبك و لاموني
Allamouny hubbak w lamouny
They warned me about your love and blamed me

عايام الورد قلبي دايب
Aayyam elwerd alby dayeeb
My heart melted on the Roses days/(happy days ?) - I guess it should be ذائب instead of دايب

كيف كنا و كان العمر طايب
Keef kinna w kan elomr tayeeb
How we were and the life was fine - I guess the correct word is طيّب

شو جرى و غير الحبايب
Shou Jara w ghayar el habayeeb
What happened ? And the friends changed their mood

مرقوا عا بابي و ما حاكوني
Mar'ou aa baby w ma hakouny
They passed my door and didn't talk to me - I guess the correct word is مرّوا


يا عصفور الشوك أهلك داروا
Ya asfour eshshouk ahlak darou
O bird ??? Your fellows flew - Is عصفور الشوك a kind of bird ?

بهالسما و ما بعرف وين صاروا
bihassama w ma baref weyn sarou
around the sky and I don't know ( where they became ?????? )

دلوني عا درب الحب و طاروا
Dellouny aa darb elhoubb w tarou
They showed me how to love and flew away

و على درب الصبر ما دلوني
W ala darb essaber ma dellouny
But they didn't show me how to be patient

Thank you for your help Majdn. Just a question about عصفور الشوك .
You have translated it into - longing bird - عصفور الشوق . That means the word الشوق was misspelled. It was written الشوك instead of الشوق. That possibility is quite reasonable. There are always many mistakes in the lyrics. But I have listened to the song and I guess Fairouz really says shouk (kaf) instead of shou2 according to the lebanese pronounce. I did a search today and found out some sites talking about an asfour eshshouk . I guess it really is a kind of bird called Dunnock in English. Please check those sites bellow :
