الكوليسترول الجيد يحفظ الذاكرة
نتائج دراسة جديدة أن الكوليسترول "الجيد" يلعب دوراً مهماً في الحفاظ على الذاكرة في المراحل المتقدمة من العمر.

وذكرت صحيفة دايلي تايمز الباكستانية أن فريقاً من الباحثين برئاسة فرنسيين راقب معدلات الكوليسترول ونسبة تراجع الذاكرة لدى 3673 رجلاً وامرأة عندما كانوا في الحادية والخمسين من العمر ومن ثم عندما بلغوا الحادية والستين.

وتبين أن انخفاض معدلات الكوليسترول "الجيد" (أي أقل من 49 مليغراماً في الديسيليتر الواحد) مرتبط بزيادة احتمالات حصول فجوة في الذاكرة.

وجاء في الدراسة أن "معدلات الكوليسترول الجيد قابلة للتعديل، وتظهر دراستنا أن تراجع هذا المعدل يعني ذاكرة ضعيفة وتراجعاً في الذاكرة لدى الراشدين في منتصف العمر".

ويذكر أن الكوليسترول ينتقل في الدم عن طريق نوعين من البروتينات الدهنية أولهما البروتينات الدهنية المنخفضة الكثافة (أل دي أل)، وهو الكوليسترول السيئ، وهذا النوع من الكوليسترول يعتبر المصدر الأساسي لترسب الكوليسترول في الشرايين وضيقها وانسدادها.

وثانيهما البروتينات الدهنية العالية الكثافة (أتش دي أل)، وهو الكوليسترول الجيد أو المفيد، ويساعد الجسم في التخلص من الكوليسترول وتمنع ترسبه في جدران الشرايين.
