Well they're two different words, shama and shana, so they're not actually related. Sadly Arabic is confusing in th way shana doesnt actually mean her, the literall translation is

3ala = on
shan = because
ha = her

So 3alashan is one word = because of
and the ha at the end refers to the person it is talking about = her

I suppose you could say the actual translation is because of her
