All I can recall of the lyrics are "I need you like the ..... ........ ........" I've got the melody in my mind but can't remember any more words and Can't find anything in google search that fits. You should give some more information, like is it a man or a woman singing it, is it a pop ballad, really slow or rather pop-dance tune or even, I don't know rock.

The singer is female. It is a 'Praise song' sung to God. I don't know if those are the beginning words or the beginning of the Chorus. I'll try to give the tune by extending the spelling of the words. "IIII Neeeeed You Like The........

It's not exactly a Christian song but I think that the song, you're quoting, is "I Need You" by America. It'd be from about 1974 or thereabouts.

yes i do know the song with the starting lyrics "i need you like flowers need rain. It's by a group called Mercy Mercy and they released this song as a single in 1985 on vinyl. it is a very very good song. unfortunately it's almost impossible to get a copy of this song either on vinyl or cd as nobody seems to have heard of the group. i hope this helps
