Indeed, the meaning of "comme fanent les roses" = as the withering/fading way/process of roses

Generally an adverb would be used. But it don't exist for the verb "faner". Other case it would be : "comme le fanement des roses".

The usual verb for flowers "flétrissent" (Inf: flétrir) or adverb "flétrissement" (lit: the withering) is to long for the rhytmic of this song. For that, Carla have used the verb "fanent" (Inf: faner). But more correctly, "faner" must be used for the leaves or vegetables.
