He's hated because he supports Nicolas Sarkozy (the french president). N. Sarkosy is against immigration but him and Enrico Macias came both from immigration. So they denie their own origin and that's why he's hated by a part of the population.

Thank you to all that took part in this translation. This has been very helpful to me. I am getting married in one week and this is the song I wanted to use for my father/ daughter dance. The song holds a special meaning to me because my family speaks fluent french, but I only understand enough to get by. I believe that this will add the element of my culture to the wedding that I was looking for.
