Smile S'il suffisait d'aimer

I woud like to understand this music in portuguese. Can you help me?

Qu'on me dise mes fautes mes chimères aussi

S'il suffisait qu'on s'aime, s'il suffisait d'aimer

As i don't know Portuguese at a level high enough, in order to translate it directly in this language, i have translated the song in English first. Any corrections are welcomed! Hopefully will somebody translate it from English to Portuguese now.

S'il suffisait d'aimer - If it were enough to love

I dream about his face, i refuse to accept his body
And then i imagine him living in my décor
I would have had so much to say to him, if i had known to talk
How to make him read at the bottom of my thoughts?

Qu'on me dise mes fautes mes chimères aussi

But, how do these others do, whom everything succeeds?
That tell me my mistakes and also my wild dreams
I offer my soul, my heart and all my time
But i give everything willingly, everything isn’t enough.

S'il suffisait qu'on s'aime, s'il suffisait d'aimer

If it were enough to love yourself, if it were enough to love
If we changed the things a little bit, nothing giving away what we love
If it were enough to love yourself, if it were enough to love
I would make out of this world, a dream, an eternity.

I have blood in my songs, a dried petal
When tears are biting me, that others have shed
Life isn’t watertight, my island is under the wind
The doors leave cries to enter, even if it’s closed.

In a garden, the child, on a balcony full of flowers
My peaceful life where i hear all the hearts, beating
When the clouds go darker, omens of misfortunes
What kind of weapons response at our countries’ fears?

S'il suffisait qu'on s'aime, s'il suffisait d'aimer

If it were enough to love yourself, if it were enough to love
If we changed the things a little bit, nothing giving away what we love
If it were enough to love yourself, if it were enough to love
I would make out of this world, a dream, an eternity.

If it were enough to love yourself, if it were enough to love
If we could change things and to start again everything
If it were enough to love yourself, if it were enough to love
We would make out of this dream, a world
If it were enough to love.

That line (among others) wasn't a easy one.

@cortom, I'm impressed by your ability to "decode" french in a so subtle and precise way, especially you already said that neither french nor english was your native language. So I'm curious to know how you learned french... if I may ask, of course.

(and just for fun, how would you translate "Que je t'aime !" (Hallyday's song) in english... in a meaningful way ?)

------
@layla, great skill too and prolific work.

Thanks for the compliment. I live in Belgium, a bilingual country (Dutch and French), as you may very well know allready. It's more or less obligatory to study both languages at school. Between age12 and 18 I had to learn French for 3 to 4 hours a week. Afterwards I tried to keep up by reading some books and magazines. I'm not THAT good, you know. What frustrates me most is that it is mostly a one-way thing. I understand French rather well (if not too complicated) but I find it very hard to express myself in it, or to write it without many mistakes.

I have not much to add to Layla's translation of "Que je t'aime", except that I think the title means "How I love you".

In my opinion, translating "Que je t'aime" by "How i love you" proves again that you "feel" french language correctly. Bravo. Living in Brel's country may be gives you some special skill.

Thank you, Crisotf. I am doing my best and am trying to translate as accurately as i can, so that i can keep the song's main meaning, but cortom is a genius!

I have learned French for 7 years with 2 hours/per week, but unfortunatelly in the first 3 years we had a teacher that wasn't interested at all, in learning us this language, so i tried to learn it more by myself.
