Good to see ya back here!

This bit on Pocahontas and Rihanna was hillarious!

As far as the songs themselves are concerned, I have to admit I find them rather repetitive and not very original (music - very predictable, lyrics - tragic, to say the least). Take Miss de Boer song for example - is she trying to make her name in Disney cartoon movies???? Then she shouldn't have participated in this contest!

All the singers you presented seem to be truly talented people, with good vocal techniques and a respectable musical culture to their credits. Great pity the songs they chose/or were given/ were all from "We've heard this all before - nihil novi" pool.

And if Miss Franca really is of Turkish origins, she should be ashamed of herself! Her stage costume was disastrous and her accent - the weirdest I've ever heard from anybody from NL - total nightmare!

Another thing I didn't like was the fact they all sang in English. I know - this debate over languages takes place every year - but I'm for singing in national languages of the participating countries.

Taking all this into consideration, I guess I'd vote for Mr Douwsma. At least he wasn't pretentious! - neither in his stage appearance, nor in his singing. And he's a Cute Dude, which always helps at ESC! Has he made it to the covers of the Dutch gay magazines yet? The title of his song - "Undercover Lover" - made me LOL, too

Thanks for entertaining us yet again with your sunny and smiling personality! Come back soon!!!
(BTW, Mavisssima, do you plan to interview Mr Robster in your spectacular Late Night Show in the forseeable future?????)

    Back to my recent obsession
    Some remarks:

Totally in agreement with you involving the songs! There are, however, two songs that I just CAN'T STOP LISTENING! I tried to, I REALLY did!!! But the songs of Joan and Raffaëla are SOOOO Catchy… you know, it's like the sh*t from the Kelly Family and Lady Gaga: you know you don't want to like it, but in the end you keep humming and dancing with it. The shock goes all around, I tell ya! Like a child in a candy shop: before you know it, you just WAAAANT IT, and you want it BAAAAAD!

About language: I, too, am pro-singing in the own language… But I'm also big enough right now to understand that this might've worked in the '50s and '60s, when the world was still small. But in the today's world…? Almost EVERYONE knows (some) English; one doesn't have to be this rocket-scientist anymore to understand it. It's the lingua franca of the world! In this modern-day Netherlands, one is frowned upon if one can not manage in the English language. That's just how this modern world roles. You can loath it or not, but it just remains a pure fact. :|

And about 'mr. Douwsma': he's straight. But officially, so are the contestants of Norway and Germany… Oh, well… aren't they all… in the beginning? :.) :P

He's Persian, moreover he was born in Shiraz so:

    HE's DOUBLY MINE!!!!!

I can leave any other to you so let me put it straight (LOL): Hands off him!!!!! I might re-consider returning him to you after I've inspected the Israeli entry. Don't lose hope, Milky1!

(BTW, it looks like you've got a substantial Iranian colony there in Paises Bajos!)

    The moon-cradle's rocking and rocking
Where a cloud and a cloud go by
    Silently rocking and rocking
The moon-cradle out in the sky.

Then comes the lad with the hazel
And the folding star's in the rack
"Night's a good herd' to the cattle,
He sings, 'she brings all things back.'

But the bond woman down by the boorie
Sings with a heart grown wild
How a hundred rivers are flowing
    Between herself and her child.

'The geese, even as they trudge homeward
They have their wings and the waste,
Let your thoughts be on Night the Herder
And be quiet for a space.'

    The moon-cradle's rocking and rocking
Where a cloud and a cloud go by
    Silently rocking and rocking
The moon-cradle out in the sky.

The snipe they are cryng and crying
    Liadine, liadine, liadine,
Where no track's on the bog they are flying
A lonely dream will be mine!

All the years of living alone
    Thinking of myself
Were filled with days of emptiness
And room for no one else
I found a haven in isolation
    With nothing to lose
Safe and lonely thinking of only
    What I had to prove
    I was lost without you
    I was lost without you
    Like being frozen in time
    Disillusioned with life
    Until I knew
    I found myself in you

    I remember being afraid
    Of my destiny
Fear of change or losing my way
    And my identity
Then something bigger just took over
    And it happened so fast
Lying here, my head on your shoulder
    Reliving the past

    I was lost without you
    I was lost without you
    Like being frozen in time
    Disillusioned with life
    Until I knew
    I found myself in you
    I found myself in you

And all the love I needed to give
    Finally found a home
Youve given me a reason to live
    Cant go back
    Dont let go

    I was lost without you
    Lost without you
    Like being frozen in time
    Going out of my mind
    Until I knew
    I was lost without you
    Lost without you
    Like being frozen in time
    Disillusioned with life
    Until I knew
    I found myself in you
    I found myself in you

The thing is however, that I'm here for enriching my knowledge over music,
    via your posted vids.
The fact that different tastes exist in the thread, makes it VERY interesting.

So thank you again and a goodnight to all of you

BTW, did you know that Hungarian is one of the most difficult languages in the world?
Definitely the most difficult among all the European languages...

    Nice song!

From "Love Deluxe", imo her best album, comes this great track:

She makes it through my collection though

I'd pick this one from Love Deluxe:

Velvet voice, velvet sound, velvet lyrics...

What more someone could ask for?
The most charming creatures on this earth. The only women who can show what they feel and, they do feel.
    Stunning feeling...to just meet them.

Dude, in this certain topic I named him (Tooji) 'mine' first! However, I'm in a generous mood: hand me over Kostas Martakis, and we've got a deal: you happy, me happy…

Btw, just to know how an ESC-song should sound like: «The Bonny Swans»: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=408za7FeNJo

One can name it however one might want to; pop, rock, vocal, keltic, new-age, world-music, folk… but a brill voice is beyond any music-genre!

Today, we cleaned the house, playing nostalgic music--LOUD! It was fun! Along with Peter Frampton Live! and a few others, we listened to LINDA RONSTADT'S - 'WHAT'S NEW' - With the Nelson Riddle Orchestra. I realized, I don't recall seeing Linda Ronstadt posted here. So:

    Good Night, everyone ... Sweet dreams . . .

    I'm SORRY, but I can't help it: «Chocolatte»

As I am allergic to chocolate (I really am), this song'll have to do. Also: «And you won't get too far, with any cho-cho-cho-cho-chocolat bar, the one thing that'll do is big and black and comes with you». What oh what is this singer singing about?? Send your answer to Post box 999, Rubish Lane 666, Sexy State! :P
