Is there a post on this site about the Poets? I ask, because I don't think learning is complete without studying the Masters of any language. I've searched for Poets 2-3 times, but I always get distracted by other great topics.
Shelley/Longfellow, Tyutchev/Pushkin .... and ??? .... just a celebration of the great Poets, old and new. Would it be a good topic for this lyrics site? Does the topic already exist?

Hawaiian!! Music!!! One of my very favorite Hawaiian singers is the late Israel ('Iz') Kamakawiwo`ole (1959-1997). If you don't know him, here is a great introduction:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rj1xd...eature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byr3X...eature=related
But I have 2 other songs of his that are even better, and they can really grab the soul:
Kaleohano
Aloha Ka Manini
Aaaaaah man ...... they are such sweet songs, I can't even say! I have them both as MP3 files.....
Btw, I only know about 3 words in Hawaiian: aloha, aloha, and lei .....
Edit: the only thing that I know about hawaiian is that you pronounce every letter, just as it looks in .... Spanish? ... long 'o' like hola, 'a' like hola, etc ... and the apostrophe is just a break in vocalization, as if to speak to 2 separate o's.

In the Hawaiian language may mean " hello" or " goodbye". It also means " love" and " affection".

You are right! I know how to say: i love you, in many languages, too. It's the most important phrase, isn't it?
I have a Swahili - German dictionary, by the way... i don't know when i'm going to use it, though...

That's the way that I've always understood it, and also many other Hawaiian words, multiple meanings depending on context/events.
A few weeks I started a Hawaiian music thread, sort of as a catalyst for learning more about Hawaiian ... but Zahra, you and I are the only ones who have posted anything there.
So if anyone else is interested, here's a helpful prompt ...
http://www.allthelyrics.com/forum/mu...ian-music.html
At least, we need to learn some Hawaiian songs for our ATL cruise, or for our Americas Road Trip, or whatever!
