I've read "Blood Of Flowers" By Anita Amirrezvani, it's about Iran in the 17th century.. you should check it out, and see whether you'd like to read it or not, however here's a warning: it's a bit obscene!
Thanks ; I will check it , for (Iraqi in Paris) , sure I will tell you when I finish it , now I am reading (Mists in Avalon) by Marion Zimmer Bradly , little history myth in female eyes ..

    Hi everyone!

@Jandros: Welcome back dear JJ... we missed u lots and lots!!

@Elraisa: How's Mist of Avalon? would you recommend it?

@Sohuda: What are you reading currently?

On my side, I can say I have now less than a hundred pages of Palace Walk to read, and I'm loving that book very much. I'll definitely get hold of the second and third books

@Citlalli : Hiiiii , I like it so far , but its English is littel bit hard (some old or classic words ) , 1000 pages to go ...
    wish me luck

Good luck for the trilogy , glad you loved it

    @Sohuda:
Yes it is the first part , it is about a family (3 generations) living in the beginning of the 20 cetury (from 1919 revolution & go on) ..

@Elraisa: Oh dear! it sounds like you'll have something to keep you busy at least for a few weeks

@Sohuda: wow! you're reading a real classic yup, Palace Walk is the first book of the Cairo trilogy

@El raisa: you're talking about "Palace Walk" right?! hmmm sounds really interesting! I wanna read it!

@citlalli: yep! classics are where I started reading, and so I enjoy them very much! in fact I have more than 20 classics in my shelf waiting to be read, along with other books and Dumas is brilliant!

During the summer I read many books and the one I liked the most is Το σταυροδρόμι των ψυχών (=The crossroad of the souls). It's really an amazing book that you just can't stop reading.

P.S. Layla mou, I also read a book of a romanian writer, though the original book is written in english as she's been living in US for some time.

So, who's the writer? And what's the name of the book?

The plot is nice but she uses the "historical present" tense a lot, something that I find really weird for I'm used to other styles of writing. But I liked it

Citlalli, thank you so much! Of course I miss all of you lots and lots, whenever I'm away for more than a few days

Maria_gr, it's been a long time since I've even said hello! Hope all is well with you

Usually I like to finish a book before I list it here, but for months I've been keeping a book by my bedside for occasional reading, and only occasional reading, because it's impossible (for me) to digest the contents of this book in a short time. It's titled The Wealth and Poverty of Nations, by David S. Landes. It's an incredibly interesting read.

    Hi everyone!

I've finally finished Palace Walk the end was so unexpected and sad... I'm dying to know what happens next; unfortunately I haven't been able to get the second book (Palace of Desire) yet

Glad you finished it , yes …very sad ending , Fahmy was my favorite character , but I can not promise a happier ending in the second part !! , good luck

I am still with (Mists of Avalon) !!

yeah, well, it's a highly anticipated book! He's a great author, I've read all of his books! you should start with Angels & Demons, it's a masterpiece! truly!!
also Deception Point is good, and Digital Fortress, they each deal with different issues! The Da Vince Code is good, but not his best!

Mmhhh, in that case maybe I should give him a second chance with another book, since quite frankly The Da Vince Code didn't stir enough interest in me for further reading him

That's ok for me I prefer to read a book that depicts life as such than reading about a utopic happy perfect world although yeah, Fahmy was also one of my favourite characters
