Default German to English

Hello,

If someone could translate the German stanza and refrain of this song into English I'd be much obliged.

was geit i cha sit jahre ke klare gedanke fasse
verfaue am alk und lüge betrüebe di klare wasser
i danke und faste sühne doch muet isch am abegheie
vo fürige türm uf dene bluetigi fahne wäie
wo güetigi bürger itze zu wüetige mörder wärde
hüeteni ds für vo dene wo musig u wörter wähle
a tusige ort warte versuechige wo di gott
und di guete gebot und mueter natur sofort lö la drungercho
doch faus i nie meh widr innere fride finde
und findleche wiue mi killt bevor igs chinder wittergibe
erinner se bitte das jedes lide e sinn het
obwou me's oft ersch usefindet we me dkrise überwindet

refrain:
das isch realität (****) mir si aui täter
spitting facts grab your gats go to war with that
so holet sanität (figg) s'isch für aui z'spät

My goodness, this is a real tough cookie ( I find no other explanation for this). I guess that is is swabian dialect and I try to do my best, as some of the words I do not understand:

was geit i cha sit jahre ke klare gedanke fasse
for years I cannot formulate an idea

verfaue am alk und lüge betrüebe di klare wasser
??????? on ??? and lies make clear water cloudy

i danke und faste sühne doch muet isch am abegheie
I thank and go on diet, atone, but I have to in the evening (*)

vo fürige türm uf dene bluetigi fahne wäie
burning tower on which bloody flags wave

wo güetigi bürger itze zu wüetige mörder wärde
where kind citizens become angry murderer

hüeteni ds für vo dene wo musig u wörter wähle
they beware themselves of those who ??? and ??? words

a tusige ort warte versuechige wo di gott
wait in such plces ?????????? where god

und di guete gebot und mueter natur sofort lö la drungercho
and the goodness is (?) and mother nature immediatelly ?????

doch faus i nie meh widr innere fride finde
but if I never will find inner peace again

und findleche wiue mi killt bevor igs chinder wittergibe
and ???????? will kill me before ??? children (?) forward (?)

erinner se bitte das jedes lide e sinn het
please remember that every song has a meaning

obwou me's oft ersch usefindet we me dkrise überwindet
you have to find it out before you can overcome a crisis

refrain:
das isch realität (****) mir si aui täter
this is reality ( ) and we are culprits, too

spitting facts grab your gats go to war with that
so holet sanität (figg) s'isch für aui z'spät
so go and get the ambulance (before?) it´s too late

MAybe some of the other native speakers from south west germany can help any further.

Could you tell more about the background of this words?

HAve a nice day, Tahira

this might be a way to say "gehe am alkohol zugrunde"

something like "versuchungen" in real German?

this text looks really entertaining.. is there any one familiar with Schweizerdeutsch around here? I might be able to ask a friend about it, if no one does..

Hi Steena,
I was kind of waiting for you because of this translation :-)

I was thinking of schweizer-deutsch, too - and you could be right. I think that swabian and helvetic german have the same roots in the olod language of the Alemannen.

I hope that bugmenot, gives us some information.

Hello Tahira and Steena. Thank you both for your help--I've been wondering about this for months.

The lyrics are much more poetic than I had originally imagined.

The song is by Sabac Red and Greis (not sure if I've got that name right). It's off of the album Freedom Fighters and is named Spitting Facts, or realität.

You can listen to it here: Spitting Facts - Sabac Red Music - MP3 Stream on IMEEM

thanx for the link bugmenot interesting to listen to!

and after all it's Schweizerdeutsch (the dialect they speak in some parts of Switzerland), my friend has helped me getting the words into German and here's the try of a translation.. Tahira has already made a really good effort and I took some of your lines into the translation

was geit i cha sit jahre ke klare gedanke fasse
what’s up? For Years I can’t focus on anything
verfaue am alk und lüge betrüebe di klare wasser
have become a slave to alcohol and lie. Afflict the clear waters
i danke und faste sühne doch muet isch am abegheie
I thank, fast and atone for it but I am losing my courage
vo fürige türm uf dene bluetigi fahne wäie
On burning towers on which bloody flags wave
wo güetigi bürger itze zu wüetige mörder wärde
Where kind citizens become angry murderers
hüeteni ds für vo dene wo musig u wörter wähle
I take care of those things for the people, who chose the music and the words
a tusige ort warte versuechige wo di gott
On a thousand places temptations are lurking which
und di guete gebot und mueter natur sofort lö la drungercho
Let God, the good commandments and Mother Nature fall down *
doch faus i nie meh widr innere fride finde
But if I will never get back my inner peace
und findleche wiue mi killt bevor igs chinder wittergibe
And if the hostile will kills me before I can pass it on to the children
erinner se bitte das jedes lide e sinn het
Remind them that every song has a meaning
obwou me's oft ersch usefindet we me dkrise überwindet
Even though you sometimes only recognize it when the crisis has been overcome
das isch realität mir si aui täter
That’s reality, we are all perpetrators

so holet sanität s'isch für aui z'spät
So call the ambulance, it's too late for all of us

* drungercho means „drunter kommen“, I couldn’t find any better for it

Awesome. That makes me appreciate the song more.

I find your use of the word 'commiters' interesting. Would 'perpetrators' work better?

Again, thanks a bunch for your guys' help.

yes of course you could use perpetrators, that's maybe even the better word for it.. I'll change it
