Default Cindy & Bert - Immer wieder Sonntags

I would really appreciate a good translation of the lyrics to this song by Cindy & Bert from 1973. All the online translations don't make a whole lotta sense. Thanks in advance!

Immer wieder Sonntags

dub)
Und da sind die selben Lieder
Die wir hörten in der Sonntagnacht
Als Du mir das Glück gebracht

Immer wieder Sonntags

Immer wieder Sonntags
Always on sunday

Jeden Sonntag kamen sie herüber (Aha)
They camo over here every sunday
Uns're Musikanten aus Athen
our musicians from Athens
Jeden Sonntag waren sie uns lieber (Aha)
with each sunday we loved them more
only the two of us can understand this

Immer wieder Sonntags kommt die Erinnerung (Dubdidubdidubdub,
Everytime on sunday the memories come back
dub)
Ich hör' die Bouzukis spielen
I can heaar the bouzouki play
Grade so wie in der Sonntagnacht
like on that (special) sunday night
when luck has brought us home (they mean: when they have found each other)

Immer wieder Sonntags kommt die Erinnerung (Dubdidubdidubdub,

dub)
Und da sind die selben Lieder
And there are the same (okd) songs
Die wir hörten in der Sonntagnacht
we listened to in that sunday night
Als Du mir das Glück gebracht
when you brought the luck to me

Jede Sonntagnacht war voller Lieder (Aha)
Every sunday night was full of songs
Mit den Musikanten aus Athen
with the musicians from Athens
and soon the both of us will go dancing
Zu den Musikanten tanzen geh'n
to the musicians from Athens

Immer wieder Sonntags kommt die Erinnerung (Dubdidubdidubdub,

The rest is repitition of the verses.

Cindy and Bert have divorced in the middle of the 80ies, but as fas as I know, they are again on tour with their songs.

Enjoy it

Default Always on sunday

Thank you very much Tahira, for your very good translation.
I listened to this song while living in Germany, but never knew what it meant exactly. Thanks to you, now it makes sense.

Hi Idave,
I grew up with this song.
It´s just a love song; they met each other when some musicians where playing the bouzouki and now they are still togehter and each sunday they remember that night they met each other. In the early seventies Germany had a whole lot of nice melodic songs of that genre.
Enjoy it

Yes, I remember a lot of very good songs back then. I listened to them on the radio, and sometimes saw the "Hitparade" on TV.
I wish now I had learned more of your language while I was there, but most Germans spoke enough English that I didn't bother. I lived in a little town called Hof. Have you ever heard of it?

I'm sure Germany has changed much since I lived there, but I hope not too much. I remember very good food, good chocolate, and of course, good beer. Do you still use Deutche Marks or is it strictly Euros now?

We use strictly Euros for about 6 years. We were one of the first countries where the Euros have been "introducced".
The price for the gasoline (for the cars) is 3times (!) higher then in the end of this 80ies, and I don´t wanna now abouth the gasoline prices in the 70ies.
Chocoloate, and the variety of bread and sausages are still as good as always. And people and goverment care a lot about the environment.

I can't remember how much the gas cost in the 70s, because it wasn't enough to worry about at the time.
Just out of curiosity, how much does a liter of gas cost you now?
I know what you mean about the environment...Germany was the cleanest country I have ever seen.

We pay 1,58 Euro per liter: that would be 3,13 DM. Its horibble! Actually it is 2,50 USDollar per litre. And it´s increasing by every day.

That IS terrible! That is around $10 for a gallon of gas. We are having trouble accepting $4/gallon gas. I hope you & your family don't have to drive much.
