    Default Kira - Deine Leine

    Hello to all

I had the most trouble with the 3rd line. “Hinterkopf” gives me a lot of trouble. I know the definition of the word, but the way it is used gives me a lot of trouble thinking of a way to make sense in English. Probably, because when I’ve seen it used it has other than a straight forward meaning, which I don’t usually know. Both of my tries are probably not right. Any help will be appreciated. As always if there are other mistakes or improvements I can make, feel free to comment.

    Kira - Deine Leine
    Kira – Your leash

Ich hab dich erst gefunden, dann aufgehoben
Du hast schon so lange hier gelegen

I have first found you, then picked you up
You have been around here so long already
With the back of the head up *
I have always seen you at a distance

    But now I am near
I pull you through the streets, half the block is stopped
I know that you’d like everyone here
Under my protective hand it is warm
    Your feet are cold

    Denn ich halte deine leine
Und ich führe dich mit mir
Und ich lasse deine Leine nicht locker
    Du gehörst zu mir

    Because I hold your leash
And I guide you with me
And I keep your leash tight
    You belong to me

I give you your name, only I know what you're called
I will never leave you alone, never alone
    Just know that
Under my loving hand it’s nice
But the room to move is small

    Denn ich halte deine Leine
Und ich führe dich mit mir
Und ich lasse deine Leine nicht locker
    Du gehörst zu mir

    Because I hold your leash
And I guide you with me
And I keep your leash tight
    You belong to me

    And I hold your leash
    You belong to me
    Because I hold your leash
And I guide you to walk
And I won’t let your leash be longer

    You belong to me
Now you slowly tire, I'll show you your home
You only have to always be quiet and well behaved
You only have to always be quiet and well behaved

    Denn ich halte deine Leine
Und ich führe dich mit mir
Und ich lasse deine Leine nicht locker
    Du gehörst zu mir

    Because I hold your leash
And I guide you with me
And I keep your leash tight
    You belong to me

    * I don't understand this line but it seems to read this way. I'll leave it this way until I find out different

    Hi MAcbard,
    I do not understand either.

Hinterkopf means the back of the head.
If you look at the song in a literal way, your expression of "Mind" is very very right, but I am not sure about what she is talking in the whole song.
If it is about a dog (??) then she is talking about the backside of the head.

I really do not know this time

    Hello Tahira

As I understand it she has found a dog and has decided to take him home. It's funny when at first I only understood a few of the lines, I was thinking she's a little rough on boyfriends. Does this sound good to you? "With the back of my head up(wards)". Like tilting your head up/back to see farther away. It seems to make sense with the next line then. "I have always seen you at a distance". Or I guess she could be talking about the dog with his head back looking up as they do with people.

MAcbard, I guess she is playing with the words as a kind of riddle.
It could be a dog and it could be a lieteral way to talk about keeping a man close, not leave him loose...
