Die Crew hat dann noch
ein paar Fragen, doch
der Countdown läuft.

Experts argue
over some data -
The crew has in that case
a couple of questions, but
the countdown has started.


Effektivität
bestimmt das Handeln
Man verlässt sich blind
auf den andern.

Effectiveness
determines the action
one relies blindly
on the other.


Jeder weiss genau
was von ihm abhängt,
jeder ist im Stress,
doch Major Tom
macht einen Scherz.

Everyone knows exactly
what depends on him,
everyone is stressed out,
but Major Tom
makes a joke.


Dann hebt er ab und!...

Then he takes off and! …

doch was nützen die
am Ende
denkt sich Major Tom.

Scientific
experiments,

wonders Major Tom.


Im Kontrollzentrum
da wird man panisch.
Der Kurs der Kapsel der
stimmt ja gar nicht.

In the control center
someone becomes panicked.
The course of the capsule
is not correct at all.


"Hallo Major Tom,
können Sie hören,
woll'n Sie das Projekt
denn so zerstören?",
doch, er kann nichts hörn'.
Er schwebt weiter...

"Hello Major Tom,
can you hear,
do you want to destroy
the project this way?”,
but, he cannot hear.
He continues floating …

Sein letzter Funk kommt:
"Grüsst mir meine Frau!"
Und er verstummt.

The earth shimmers blue
His last radio message comes:
“Give my regards to my wife”!
And he fell silent


Unten trauern noch
die Egoisten,
Major Tom denkt sich
"wenn die wüssten -,
mich führt hier ein Licht
durch das All,
das kennt ihr noch nicht,
ich komme bald
Mir wird kalt."

Below mourning still
the egoists
Major Tom is wondering
“If they knew - ,
it’s me here riding a light
through the universe,
that you still know not,
I come quickly
I become cold.”
