I mean , I guess it doesn'have such a connotation in Greek but when you use the word for the opposite sex, it doesn't sound so good!! I mean it's not very kind or appropriate to address a woman as "γιαβρί μου". It's Ok when you're addressing to you children though..So I hardly recommend you not to address a woman like that, unless she's your girlfriend or wife or someone you have a crush on!!!
