HELP!

I found the english translation ... but ... i still do not understand the meaning of the song ...

who is left at the train station?

is the train leaving Katerini? who is left behind? is he a soldier??? who is drinking at lefteri's ouzoria???

does "november will not remain" mean "November will never be the same again"?

does it really mean "darkness will not come to other places" or does it mean "you won't appreciate the darkness the same way after this ..."

I just looked at Azim's translation of this song! It is PERFECT, I dont know why you found it hard to understand this song!

1. The train is going towards Katerini, so Katerini is the DESTINATION!!
2. Dont know who is left at the station... only the composer of this song or the lyricist might know that... If they published the story of this song, well.. i havent read it!!!
3. The song doesnt mention anything about soldiers!!
4. The person drinking at Lefteris' is the one who is left behind, and obviously there is a bond with the one who is leaving. Possibly a close friendship.... i guess..
5. "November will not remain" - It wont always be november, ofcourse it will come to an end... Every time period comes to an end!!
6."darkness will not come to other places" - Their night is customarily spent at the Lefteris'...


You might want to check out the translation one more time because i think all the answers i provided can easily be seen in the literal translation of this song!!

I certainly didn't mean to imply that the translation was anything less than perfect ...

that being said ...

sometimes the "meaning" of the song is WAY different from the "translation " ofthe song ...

for example ... the american folk song "she'll be coming round the mountain" is really about trains ... but translated literally into greek ... would sound like a song about a woman going to visit somplace ...

I have the sheet music for "the train leaves at eight" but because my greek is very poor ... i thought I could give it english words
