my nana used to sing it to my mam and she sang it to me she just passed away and wants me to sing it but i need to find it - it goes summit like this

Ive been looking for the same song as well. I used to sing it to my gran when i was little.

She isnt well now and doesnt really recognise much so I wanted to sing it to her as i know she'll remember it.

I dont have a clue where it comes from or where i learnt it from but the lyrics you've posted are the same lyrics apart from the last line where we would sing 'so listen all you children, do as you are you are told, cause if you lose you mama, you lose a heart of gold'

the song i rember is what my gran sang to all my antis and they sang it to all of us including there own childeren it goes

i just know this song by heart...as i've been singing this since i was 6 and have won several school singing contests and making the judges cry..
i was looking for the music of this song..and i came across this site.

i think the title is MOTHER'S SONG.

There is a vinyl by Jim & Jesse called Dear Old Mother, but haven't heard it, so don't know if it's the right one
