    Default 1970's song about WWI

Looking for an obscure song about world war I, that I heard on pop hits radio stations in the mid 1970's (probably 75-77). I heard it for the first time in over 30 years, a few months back, while traveling on an out of state trip, on an oldies station. Unfortunately the station said that I would have to have the exact date and time for them to look it up on their play-list. I have asked folks around here, but no one has ever heard of it. You might be my last hope!

Here is what I know about it:
Was sung by a female singer in a folk/ballad style that sounded a lot like the current Canadian singer Lorena McKennet.
Had lyrics in it referring to WWI (fighting in the trenches, etc.)
I think the last line of the chorus ended with " ..........in 1917". (It is NOT the current "1917" song)
Seems like it was out about the same time as the "snoopy and the red barron" song.
    Any ideas ?

Thanks for the replies. June Tabor's "No Man's Land" is so close that it confuses my vauge memory of the song I am seeking. BUT, I don't think that is it. New information: In the song, I remember the singer being backed up by a very small chorus of singers.
