Spanish band with ugly female singer - which?

This will be a tricky one. But I'm grateful for any suggestions. I heard a great song of this band when staying in Madrid. I've forgot the name of the band, the song and can't remember the lyrics.

However, the person who gave me this information also mentioned that it was a pretty famous spanish band and that the female lead singer was somewhat infamous for being very unattractive. Not very nice, but I suppose that's the way it was.
So, any suggestions?

It was kind of soft rock/jazz. Had a very nice melody. I know it's not much info but it doesn't hurt to try. Thanks for answering. I'm going to see if I can find anything on the names you gave me.
