What Song is This please

Hey guys and gals, new to this so here goes. This song has been driving me nuts forever. While stationed in the Army in North Carolina, about 1975 there was this song on the radio occasionally. It had a Harry Chapin type sound. Heres the Lyrics (as best I can remember):
"Was a hot afternoon the first day of june and the sun was a demon. The sweat trickled down the front of her gown and the air was a steamin !

Driving me nuts. Please help if you can. I loved that song. It was a male artist as I sid kinda slow Harry Chapin.

Hi all I have been trying to figure this out for the longest time. In the movie white chicks, the big strong black guy (tyrell) does a really funny dance to techno song in a party. can anyone tell me what is the name of that song?
