Late 80s or early 90s

I'm usually not into light pop or easy listening type stuff, but I keep hearing this one song in grocery stores, etc and it's driving me nuts - I can't get the tune out of my head! I think it's from the late 80s or early 90s.

It has kind of a folksy, light pop rock, sort of pensive ballad style. It's sung by a male singer, who is joined by some background singers on the chorus. The only words I remember are this:

Chorus:
walk to the ocean,
hmmm hmm hmm stone,
blood becomes water,
flesh becomes bone

I've searched the 'net high and low with no success. Any help is appreciated!
