Question Mellow 60's or 70's song

    Hiya!
Can anyone help me identify a song that I think goes like this:

    Verse 1
    Sunny day chase the night
    pushing for the dawn
now the season is rapidly changing
    it's alive and warm

    Verse 2
    A new day is born
why should I be worried or hurt
does dhe know the way I feel

    Refrain
Can we meet for a while on a saturday
    sunny saturday afternoon
    Happiness on a saturday
    sunny saturday, I met you

    Verse 3
When I wake in the morning I see you
    simply standing there(.....)

Sorry, that's all I have. I heard it in an episode of british TV-series "Heartbeat", which is supposed to take place in late 60's/early 70's. The singer was male, and the song had a mellow soft-rock feel, with upright bass, accoustic guitars and piano.
English isn't my native language, some of the words in the verses might be wrong, but I'm almost certain that the refrain is accurate. I appreciate all the help I can get!!!

Hello LoveJoy, this song is "On a Saturday", of Keith West, lead-singer of "Tomorrow", a A-side single recorded on 1968.
I ripped the song of an album that I have of Keith, and you can dowload this tune here: http://www.mediafire.com/?0mngj3jaigd
Or you can listen the song in this video that I made (I love that song!!):
