Default Identifying Classic 60's Soul Ballad

    Hey all,
I've copied this song from a tape (a TAPE!) I found at a gas station.
Being a cheap compilation of soul songs it had no linear notes and I desperately want to find a decent copy of this one song in particular. I've transcribed the lyrics comlpetely & done all the obvious (and not so obvious) searches with them on the net. Nothing! It's an incredible song, I can't believe it only exists on this tape. Someone out there has to recognize it...

    LYRICS:
When I am gone, gone, gone.
When I am gone to return no more.
    You'll be on bended knee,
Begging me to come back home
I won't hear your cries and groans
For I'll be gone, gone, gone.

You'll find out that is true,
Nobody will treat you the way I do.
You'll miss all of my sweet loving,
When I am gone, gone, gone.

Gone in to the arms of someone new,
Someone who will love me better than you.
You'll want me to come back home
But I'll be gone, gone, gone.

(You'll want me to come back home, but I'll be gone, gone, gone)

Gone in to the arms of someone new,
Someone who will love me better than you.
You'll want me to come back home
But I'll be gone, gone, gone.

(You'll want me to come back home, but I'll be gone, gone, gone)

Gone in to the arms of someone new,
Someone who will love me better than you.
You'll want me to come back home
But I'll be gone, gone, gone.

(You'll want me to come back home, but I'll be gone, gone, gone)

    Yes I will.

Gone into the arms of someone new,
Someone who will love me better than you.
You'll miss all of my sweet loving,
When I am gone, gone, gone.

Yeah, this is a tough one.
I found lyrics for Carl Perkins' (1979) and The Everly Brothers" (1965) versions of "Gone, Gone Gone" but they do not match the lyrics you posted. Tommy James & the Shondells also did "Gone, Gone, Gone" on the "I Think We Are Alone Now" album (1967) but I can not find lyrics or a download.

I also tried searching for songs with titles of "When I am Gone" and "I'll Be Gone" but did not find your lyrics. A search for the title "Gone" turned up 500+ artists including Della Reese (1962).

    Sorry I wasn't more help.
