    Question 50's and 60's Stuff

I have a cassette tape belonging to my father and would love to find all the songs on it to make a cd for him. But Im having real problems finding the songs.
The first one goes like this " I aint mommas little girl no more, and baby your the first to know, I aint mommas little girl no more, it took a little time to grow"
Its a female singer. Most likely 50's or 60's
    any help would be great

    Hi shelldevil~

Wow, I just answered another member's question yesterday with the this same artist. She's fantastic and still around......since 1964! Anyway, it's Dusty Springfield and the title is "Mama's Little Girl." I like to put favorites on CD for family and friends too! He's gonna love it, hope this helps!

I took the ribbon from my hair
And I'm letting it all hang down
So, if you're lookin' for the same old me
Gotta tell you that she's left town
Don't try to call my number, baby
    You're gonna get no reply
    'Cause suddenly I'm changin'
    I'm finally rearrangin'

    In this day of liberation
I'm lookin' to find my share
What's the use of being patient?
    You ain't goin' nowhere
I got my own two-step together
And I want the first slow dance with you
    I just saw Venus risin'
    Guess I'm realisin'

    I ain't mama's little girl no more
And baby, you're the first to know
    I ain't mama's little girl no more
I took a little time to grow
    It's gonna be worth waiting
    The anticipating
I'm not mama's little baby no more

Well, I've been everyone's best friend
Someone they could tell their troubles to
How come they never noticed me
And the pain that I was going through?
I've seen the lonely side of living
I never want to go back there again
The sad old me is dyin'
    Tonight there is no denyin'

    I ain't mama's little girl no more
And baby, you're the first to know
    I ain't mama's little girl no more
I took a little time to grow
    It's gonna be worth waiting
    The anticipating
I'm not mama's little baby no more

    I ain't mama's little girl no more
And baby, you're the first, the first to know
    I ain't mama's little girl no more
I took a little time, a time to grow
It's gonna be worth the waiting
    The anticipating
I'm not mama's little baby no more, no more

    I ain't mama's little girl no more
And baby, you're the first, the first to know
I said I ain't mama's little girl no, no more
I took a little time, a time to grow
It's gonna be worth the waiting
    The anticipating
I'm not mama's little baby no more, no more

Sorry to say, but Dusty Springfield passed away a couple of years ago. Her music is still fabulous, but she isn't still around.

    Hi jetstew~

I actually didn't mean "still around" in the sense that she's alive but rather that her music is still around, big, and selling very well (Amazon), that's why the reference to 1964 when her music professionally began. I'm sad to hear that she died, I didn't know that. I appreciate you letting me know. I looked it up after I read your post to learn the details and was so sorry to see she was another victim of breast cancer, died in 1999. Again, thanks for clarifying.
