Please Help!! I am trying to figure out this R. Kelly song??
Hey everyone,
First off I wanted to say hello to everyone out there.... HELLO
Now on to the song that is absolutely driving me nuts!! I have been trying to figure out this song for a couple of years now, and it is constantly popping up in my head, but I swear if I don't figure out the song soon it might just drive me crazy, and then I really won't need to know the song because I will be locked up in a loony bin!! (HA,HA)
Anyway I believe the artist is R. Kelly, but I can not for the life of me figure out the song's name or remember the exact lyrics, so I only know what the song is about, and I have searched everywhere: PLEASE HELP!!
Artist: R. Kelly ,(I THINK).
Song's subject:
The song is played strictly on the piano with no other instruments, so it is kind of like A cappella. I also believe it was the opening track on one of his albums.
The song is about a man, (R. Kelly himself I believe), talking directly to his father, who had left him and his mother when he was just a baby, and he wants to know why.
I also think the man, (not the father), is considering forgiving his father or something.
That's all I can come up with and that's why this search is so frustrating. I believe the song is actually about R. Kelly and his unknown real father.
I have searched through all of R. Kelly's lyrics but I can't find the song, and that is why I am thinking that the artist might not be R. Kelly, but I was almost positive.
I remember having the song in the late 90's but I could be totally wrong on the year also.
Well that's all I got for now, I hope it helps, and if anyone can help me figure out this song, (any piece of information at all), I will be eternally grateful because my mind will finally be at ease!!
Thanks everyone, Take Care

Song: WHAT I FEEL/ISSUES
Artist: R. Kelly
1998
I'm sick and tired of the games you played
Every move I make your *** got something to say
Scandalize my name when you see it in the paper
Trying to turn it all around when it wasn't that way
Everybody is trying to figure me out
What the hell is wrong with y'all just let me live my life
I can't go one day without y'all in my face
Y'all done lost y'all minds if you don't hear what I say
Cops chase me when I'm standing still
You know I ain't done **** wrong so why you want me in your cell
You don't like my songs well it pays the bills
And you cut me down cuz I keep it real
Sometimes I wanna fly far away from here
To another place it ain't worth these tears
Sometimes at night when I close my eyes
I know the haters are busy making up hater lies
Sometimes I laugh trying to keep from crying
If I was plain out of love then tell me who could I trust
See I work so hard just to get ahead
If it wasn't for God I'd probably be dead
Sometimes I think y'all trying to pull me down
But y'all wasting your time I got you haters figured out
If yo had your way it'd be lock and key
Everywhere I go trouble follows me
Where the hell is my father **** it hurts sometimes
There's a hole in me and it rocks my mind
Forgive me father for I have sinned
When was your last confession
His true fears he left without a care
And that was more than I could bare
When you need my help I never tell you no
When I need your love you got somewhere to go
I'm getting sick of this **** but I'm not gonna quit
I've come too far gotta keep my pockets thick
I get mad as hell but that's ok
Kick off these shoes cuz I'm here to stay
I gotta let you know got no time to play
So feel me and all that you hear me say
What I'm building up you can't tear it down
Cuz it's built on solid Rockland ground
We don't die, we multiply, hit after hit, living platinum style
Keep my head up high, looking toward the sky
Nothing in my view, hey I can fly
Y'all just hate, I can't take no more
And if you feel me raise your hand and show
This is what I feel, ooh, this is what I feel
Feel me, feel me, feel me, hey, hey feel, woo
Westside tell me can you feel me, hey, oh
Eastside tell me can you feel me, whoa, oh south
Southside tell me can you feel me
Feel me, feel me

Hi montannie-annie,
Thank you very much for the super fast reply, I really appreciate it
I took a look at the song you suggested but unfortunately that's not the one
I am starting to think that I might be mistaken as to R. Kelly being the artist, but I could of sworn that it was him, since he has a very distinctive voice and sound??
Oh well I haven't really given a lot of clues that might help, so that makes it really difficult to figure out, so I guess the search continues
Thanks again for your help and effort; I really appreciate
Take Care.

I'm sorry it's been such a hard song to find for you. Have you listened to a sample? I mean you're most likely right, but I know that when it's been years since I heard a song my memory of the lyrics or music gets distorted, I ended up searching and searching---my sister suggested I listen to a copy of the song that her friend had but I was sure by the lyrics that it wasn't the one. More than a year later, guess what????? (lol)
Again, you're probably right just by reading the lyrics.......but it might be worth listening to a sample. I found a sample at Amazon.
Happy Hunting!!!!

Hi mjfan4life~
Here's a possibility......hope this is the one. "Where Have You Been?" by Jay-Z?!?
R. Kelly joins him on the "Guilty Until Proven Innocent." I wondered if that might be the reason you associate the song with R. Kelly???? He later collaborated with R. Kelly for 'Best of Both Worlds' album in 2002.
As a side note, in 2004 "he also embarked on an ill-fated arena tour with the embattled R. Kelly that resulted in an exchange of ugly multi-million-dollar lawsuits," according to his bio at mp3.com....don't know if you knew about their collaborations and what they had in common....but that may have been what caused you to associate the song with R. Kelly - that is, if this is the song you're looking for. I guess it goes without saying that they also shared the fact that they had both been abandoned by their fathers, I can relate to that. As you mentioned R. Kelly's father is still unknown but ultimately left him abandoned by him too.
Well anyway, it seemed worth a try!

Damn how am I gonna say this ****?
hey... hey dad, yeah it's your boy
remember me? I wanna talk to you scrap
I remember being kicked out the house
'cause I looked just like you
Said I'd be nothing but a crook
just like you
The *****z in the hood was shook
Where the just like you
'Cause all they said was little whitey look
I'm just like you
But dog I can't see it at all, ****
We never kicked it at all
We never pitched or kicked at a ball
dog, you never taught me ****
how to fight, ride a bike, fix a flat
none of that sorts of ****
***** you was an abusive pops
**** you left me out to dry, stuck
gotta teach news to box
gotta teach news to bop
and that aint the half of it man
I gotta teach news to block
It's about time we have a father to son (***** sit down)
sit down let me tell you 'bout your fatherless sons
how they grew to be men and father they sons
father they daughters
*****, you left a fatherless daughter
I never follow your orders
***** you make me sick
***** you could....ooh
how you gonna leave these memories in the back of my mind
I can see it clear as day you smackin my mom
I 'member that day you showed me that gat, that 9
put it in my palm when I was young
and said that would be mine, you turned me out
the reason why I hit the block
reason why I tried to hit them cops
reason why I started hittin shots
reason why I started gettin licked
and drinkin syrup and skippin court
ginger bread man never think of gettin caught
look at your hand man damn you fought
***** you left my mom
left us with no good-bye's
you left us out to dry
you left us with no letters, notes, (nothing!) no replies
no digits numbers was unlisted
you left us with some of my loneliest night
***** some of my hungriest nights
****, one of the reasons for years (**** embarrasin)
damn we used to think money was white
yeah you gave us life like, fruit from a plant
we aint eat right from them foods from them stamps
and to think you was my pop,
man i gotta stop ****
[CHORUS]
Female: Daddy, Where Have You Been?
Beanie: And when you come home, you got us here all alone
Female: Mommy, Where Daddy Went?
Beanie: You always stick up for him
Always said you'd make up for him
Female: Mommy, What Happened Then?
Beanie: What was you cheatin on him?
Why he's always beatin' on you?
Female: Daddy, Where Have You Been?
Beanie: *****, you gonna hear me out
[Jay-Z]
I wanted to walk just like him (remember?)
wanted to talk just like him (word)
often momma said I look too much
and I thought just like him (it could happen)
wanted to drink Miller nips
and smoke Newports just like you
but you left me, now I'm goin to court just like you
I would say "my daddy loves me and he'll never go away"
bullshit, do you even remember December's my birthday?
do you even remember the tender boy
you turned into a cold young man
with one goal and one plan
get mommy out of some jam, she was always in one
always short with the income
always late with the rent
You said that you was comin through
I would stay in the hallway (waitin)
always playin the bench (waitin)
and that day came and went
**** You! very much you showed me the worst kind of pain
but I'm stronger and trust me I will never hurt again
will never ask mommy "why daddy don't love me?
Why is we so poor?, why is life so ugly?
Mommy why is your eyes puffy?"
please don't cry everything'll be alright
I know it's dark now, but we gon' see the light
It's us against the world
we don't need him, right? (right)
mommy drivin 6's now (yeah), I got riches now (yeah)
I bought I nice home for both of my sisters now
we doin real good
we don't miss you now
see how life twists around, ****er?
CHORUS
[fade out... sound of staticky LP turning]
