    Default SOLVED: Disco Song I.D.

I will try and describe this song as best as I can.

I presume the song is a late 70's or early 80's disco song - I do not think it is a 'pure' disco song in that I think it verges more on electro music than real instruments. As such I presume it could be a Euro dance song but that remains to be seen.

So, the song itself - well it doesn't have a verse-chorus-verse structure and the only bit I know appears to be the middle eight. It is what people would most identify the song as being.

    "OO-oo-oo-oo-OO (ting) OO-oo-oo-oo-OO (ting) OO-oo-oo-oo-OO (ting)

The "OO-oo..." sections are short bursts by female backing vocalists and the (ting) is a sound best described as a triangle strike or high note glockenspeil played at the end of each bar.

Hope you can help - I am usually good at tracking down songs but this has had me stumped for years.

    Okay, is one bump allowed?

In return I will give a little more information.

The line I provided is better described as having a more complex vocal, at least in trying to describe it to you so I will phonetically change it to better help you.

    "Wa-hoo-hoo-hoo-HOO (ting) Wa-hoo-hoo-hoo-HOO (ting) Wa-hoo-hoo-hoo-HOO (ting)

If I had to chose a style of music I would say 'Cerrone' who was a French electro-disco artist with a string of hits in the late 70's and early 80's.

The vocal has the similar driving aspect to it that Starsound's 'Stars on 45' intro has. High ptched female chorus with a mid-tempo rythym.

    Thanks again.

The song I wish to be identified was featured on British televisions 'Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe' on BBC2 06/02/14

It was during the 'Wonga' sequence.
