I've tracked it down. The song was initially part of the soundtrack for the 1980's popeye movie and performed by Shelly Duvall. it was recently part of the soundtrack of the movie Punch Drunk Love.

Seems like a couple of people beat me to it but I'll chime in anyway. This song does hang around in one's head doesn't it? :-} I saw the Suez commercial too weeks ago & kept saying to myself, "I know that song-I know it." But couldn't think of where. So I googled the lyrics as well as 'who composed....' until I saw 'POPEYE' & PUNCH DRUNK LOVE' soundtracks. I realized holy crap I had the dvd of one and the score of the other! I listened for the song on both & was thrilled.

The composer Jon Brion remixed Harry Nilsson's original tune w/ Shelley Duvall singing and it still sounds gr8. In case U R wondering sjaybone, on the Punch Drunk Love soundtrack its Track #8. On my Popeye recording its Track #2.
