Help with this duet

Hope someone can help. The love of my life wants to find a song that summarizes our relationship, and since we were first friends then we became more, she picked out a song, but cant remember the artists or the song title, just some of the lyrics, any help would make her day. Here is what I have.

The song is a male/female duet.
The chorus is:
"I will be ..your...friend. and I will be your lover."

there is also a line something like: "We dont have to be one or the other." OR

She thinks there is a lyric something like: "I know in my heart I cant be one or the other."
