Trying to find a band

Hi All,

I just recently found this site and think it is great. I am looking for the name of a band. I think this is a long shot as all I know is that the lead singer was a blind older black man and a line of one of their songs was something like: please ask the governor to just leave the poor man alone. I guess I would say they were a rock/blues type of band and they had at least one video on VH-1 maybe in the middle/late nineties. Again, I know this is a long shot but I appreciate any help.
