Default Rock Song "Sing The Songs You Know Will Make Me Smile"

Trying to identify a Rock song that had the following lyrics repeatedly sung throughout the song.

"Sing the songs you know will make me smile" OR

"Sing the songs that you know will make me smile" OR

"Sing the songs you know that will make me smile"

"Make Me Smile"

Other Information:
*Male vocalist

*Singer had a somewhat raspy or gravely voice

* Slow-Mid Tempo Melodic Rock, Ballad style

* Guitar driven

*It sounded like it was probably an 80's or 90's era song (but could have been '00)

In searching, I have tried looking for song titles like "Make Me Smile", "Sing the Songs" with no luck.

FYI, Songs I know it is NOT, even though the song title would make sense includes:
- Chicago "Make Me Smile"
- Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel "Make Me Smile" (Come Up & See Me)
- Dead Girls Ruin Everything - "Make Me Smile"
- Catherine- "Make Me Smile"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try this: David Coverdale - Take me for a little while

David coverdale is a rock vocalist most famous for his work with the British hard rock band Deep Purple, and his later band Whitesnake.

Now my days are growing cold,
All the memories unfold
Thinking 'bout the friends we lost,
Wondering how to count the cost,
Now my days are growing cold

I can hardly wait any longer,
Now the feeling's growing stronger
Thinking 'bout the times we had,
Good times always turn into bad,
Now my days are growing cold

Why don't you take me for a little while,
Sing me songs, you know, will make me smile
Why don't you take me for a little while

As I watch the rising sun,
I see a new day just begun
Thinking 'bout the sacrifice,
Wondering how to pay the price,
Now my world is growing cold

Why don't you take me for a little while,
Sing me songs, you know, will make me smile, make me smile
Why don't you take me for a little while

So now my days are growing cold,
All my memories been told
Thinking 'bout the dreams we lost,
Wondering how to count the cost
Now my days are growing cold

Why don't you take me for a little while,
Sing me songs, you know, will make me smile
Why don't you take me for a little while,
Sing me songs, you know, will make, me make, me make, me smile

Why don't you take me for a little while,
Sing me songs, you know, will make me smile.
Why don't you take me for a little while,
Sing me songs, you know, will make, me make, me make, me smile.

Make me smile...

Why don't you take me for a little while,
Sing me songs, you know, will make me, make me, make me smile.
Somebody take me, take me, won't you make me smile...

Hope this is of some help to you

Mumbles:

Thank You. You nailed it!

The song I was looking for was indeed the Coverdale/Page song "Take Me For a Little While" from their self-titled album from 1993 on Geffen Records.

When I heard it on the radio I only caught the last half or less of it and I knew I had heard it before, and must admit now (hindsight), I am embarrased that I didn't recognize Coverdale's voice.

It's a killer guitar driven melodic rock ballad- but Coverdales voice sounds totally shot in places- like it must of been even painful for him to sing (if I was the producer I would have said to Coverdale "don't talk/sing for a couple of weeks and completely rest your voice, your vocal cords and this beautiful song deserve it").

Thanks again.
