Identify Lyrics - "...in the ghetto"

Hi (: I'm trying to find a song that my boyfriend took a liking to on the radio at night. Unfortunately we didn't get the name of the song or an artist seeing as how they don't have DJs at night. I only have tidbits of the song that I remember. It featured a male rapper for the Verses and parts of the chorus and a male singer for the other parts of the chorus and a tad of the verses.

In one of the verses a line was 'I got love for my people whoever they are.'
The chorus contained a line of what sounded like 'They got me locked(?) up in the ghetto.' Not sure if they said locked or not.
And around the end, the male singer sings, 'Trying to get something back to you.' with resounding you's.

Any help would be appreciated (:

Not sure who this is but try Busta Rhymes, Nas, Akon... Those are the only guys i've heard that sing songs similar to what you described........
