Red face Song based on The Stand by Stephen King

I am sure that I didn't imagine this, but can someone tell me who performed a song about The Walking Dude, Randall Flagg, from the book The Stand by Stephen King? I am sure some of the lyrics mentioned 'The man with the down-trodden shoes' or boots or heels or something like that. I think it was in the early to mid 80's this was performed, by a rock group and I am sure I saw it on a music program on the telly, probably on ToTPs. But I am the bit older now and the grey matter ain't what it used to be, but I am sure someone did a song like this. Can anyone help, please????

Here's one: "Among the Living" by Anthrax / I found 2 others mentioned as being written about the book: "The Alarm" by The Alarm and "Beg for the Plague" by Political Statement

    Disease! disease! spreading the disease.
With some help from captain trips,
Hell bring the world down to his knees.
Power, yes power! hell show them all his power.
It pulses through his ice cold blood,
    A whole world to devour!
Bridgehes seeing, hes calling, his legacy hes spawning.
Hes coming, corrupting, among the living!
Murder! murder! commit cold blooded murder!
Like nazis during world war two, they only follow orders.
Hatred! hatred! a crucifix is your bed,
Once he turns his eye on you, youll be better off dead!

Im the walkin dude, I can see all the world!
Twist your minds with fear, Im the man with the power.
Among the living, follow me or die!
Man, fights man! divided they cant stand!
United, they can battle back, and make him force his hand!
Fear, yes fear! his end is growing near,
He didnt count on mans good faith,
    And their will to persevere.

    Follow me or die!
Fire! hot fire!! purge the world with fire!!
Damnation is the price hell pay, for an evil mans desire!
Good, versus evil! the stand to vanquish evil!
Man can only live one way, that place right in the middle.

    Follow me or die!
Among among among among among among
Among among among among among among!

The members of The Alarm claim this one is about "The Stand"

    Mike Peters
Stephen King wrote a novel called "The Stand" and in the
beginning book he writes an author's note and he says that
all the places he visited to compile the information and the
research for his book and all the characters that he met that he
wanted to characterize in the book, that he totally distorted
them all to fit his novel. So I'd read his novel and put quite
a bit of it in the song. I totally distorted his novel to
    fit my song.

    The Alarm
    "The Stand"

Oh I have been out searching with the black book in my hand
And I've looked between the lines that lie on the pages that I tread
I met the walking dude, religious, in his wom down cowboy boots
He walked liked no man on earth
I swear he had no name (had no name)
I swear he had no name

Come on down & meet your maker
Come on down & make the stand
Come on down, come on down,
Come on down & make the stand.

As I crawled beneath the searchlights
Looking through the floorboards of this life
    I met Doctor Strangeloves cousin
He bore the marks of time
"Hey! Trashcan where you going boy
    Your eyes are feet apart
Is that the end you're carrying Shall I play the funeral march" (play the march)
    "Play the funeral march"

Come on down & meet your maker
Come on down & make the stand
Come on down, come on down,
Come on down & we'll make the stand.

Come on down & meet your maker
Come on down & make the stand
Come on down, come on down,
Come on down, we'll make the stand.

When I looked out the window
On the hardship that had struck I saw the seven phials open
The plague claimed man and son
Four men at a grave in silence With hats bowed down in grace
    A simple wooden cross,
It had no epitaph engraved (it had no)
    It had no epitaph engraved.

Come on down & meet your maker
Come on down & make the stand
Come on down, come on down,
Come on and make the stand

Come on down & meet your maker
Come on down & make the stand
Come on down, come on down,
Come on down, & we'll make the stand.
    Oh Stewardess..........I speak jive.

Thanks both to Logan01 and Jetstew for your rapid responses. The one I was looking for was by The Alarm, I recognised some more of the lyrics. Thanks both for providing all the lyrics to both songs. I hadn't realised that someone else had done a song based on the book. Superb website. I may rest easy now, it has been bugging me for yonks. I hope I can return the favour one day.
