Who sings this???

There is a song I've been trying to find out who sings it, its a female singer and all I know are the words "do you believe in what you see.....everyone's saying different things to me different things to me" I think it is several years old becuase it was played on an episode of Sex and the City (season 5 or 6) but I heard it again last night on the show House...neither show listed it in its credits...help!
