I also thought the lyrics were: taking a trip down to africa benny....heard that song in the summer of '68 when I was 7, I think, and have wondered about the song on and off since! Thanks for posting this info!

Wow, I too - for years remember that song (from my childhood) as "africa benny".

Over the years....pre-internet....I had searched for that song until that title.
