Help name this song and/or artist

The song I am searching for is probably from the 80's maybe early 90's.

I can barely remember the words and the ones I do remember I think are wrong anyway but thought it worth a go to see if anyone else out there can remember.

Everyone I have asked thinks it is "I love Rock and Roll" but it is a completely different song. Hope you can help.

Rock and Roll Paddy by Shane MacGowan and the Popes has these lyrics:

He's the sort of singer you tend not to forget, so I'm not too hopeful here.

Im still trying to track down the song, in my head I have these words but I know theyre not right so I cant really give any more information.
But... any other suggestions would be helpful.
Perhaps it was a one hit wonder that has been lost forever!!!
