Default Stuck in an 80's blackhole....

OK.

this is a really vague one... but I'm desperate.

80's song. male vocalist...reminds me of Toto's "Africa"... the guys going on a voyage of some sort and the only lyrics that I can remember for sure is that he's saying that he's "a layman like my father (either "was before" or before me")"

PLease someone help...I'm going crazy.

Hmm... Could it be "bayman" instead of "layman"?

I was a bayman like my father was before
Can't make a living as a bayman anymore
There ain't much future for a man who works the sea
But there ain't no island left for islanders like me

Try "The Downeaster "Alexa" by Billy Joel.
