Mid 90's song/singer challenge

Not much to go on here, but it's driving me nuts: Male singer (possibly black) with a slight lisp. He's talking on the phone with a girlfriend who broke up with him. He talks through most of it, but breaks into singing a few high-pitched choruses of "suddenly I find myself... (blah, blah, blah) ...and lose my self control." or something along those lines. Maybe he mentions something about a pool and neckties when he's talking, but those are just vague impressions I'm channeling.

It's a very funny song that I heard a few times over the course of a few weeks one mid 90's summer on alternative radio. Never heard it again, but it stuck with me.
