Default Searching for a relatively old slow song

    Hello,

I've been searching everywhere for a song from several years back (I think) that showed up as a slow song in a dance recently.

Unfortunately the most I remember from this song is that a male is singing in it and it counts up from one. So, the chorus (or what I think is the chorus) goes something like
    one, <insert phrase here>
    two, <insert phrase here>
    three, etc. etc.

I know, it's not much to go on, but it's all I have. The problem is I don't usually go song hunting (so I don't remember much about songs) but this song has always stayed in the back of my mind and it's getting pretty infuriating.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    ~S

How long ago do you mean by several years?

There is an old Eddie Cochran song called Three Steps to Heaven covered by a lot of singers......here's one version.

Here's the stupid part - I'm not very sure how long ago it was made. I remember listening to it before 2004 though, which is why I say relatively old (by the standards of today's media).

Unfortunately "Three Steps to Heaven" isn't the song - the song counts much higher - up to at least eight, if not twelve, I believe. Random numbers, I know.

    Cool song though, thanks :]

My first thought was Brian Mcknight - "back at one" but that only goes to 5. I remember R. Kelly had a song on his first album (early nineties) called "12 play," but I don't remember how the song goes... not much to go on

The R.Kelly one? Here are those 12 steps

Whoops, edit for the sake of very young forum users, and I only give the page link for lyrics, it seems, they are too "strong" to paste them here :R Kelly 12 Inch Play lyrics

DAMN, I just actually read the lyrics. Would they play this at a dance?? Was this a school dance? Sheesh, imagine if the song was called 18 play, or 20 play?? LOL

Yes! I was looking for "Back at one" by Brian McKnight. Thank you so much, SOULstice! Clearly my memory's failing me if I remember it counting up to 12...

And it would be distinctly amusing if any school dance played 12 Play

You're very welcome! And I would add that I would NOT want to be a chaperone at THAT high school dance!
