Lyrics Identify

Hi all

I came across a guy who has been tormented by, what he calls, 'a seventies song that has been driving me up the wall"

He would then break out into this broken version of this song that was stuck in his head.

The lyrics that he sang were " YOU DON'T KNOW HOW I FEEL, YOU MAKE ME WANNA CRY"

Has anybody got the faintest clue, I seem to feel that he is not crazy and that the words do ring a bell, somehow.... but I am stumped.

Anybody???

sounds to me like it could be a slightly misremembered version of Godley and Creme's "Cry" (1985):

"you don't know how to ease my pain...
...you make me wanna cry"
