Really obscure one

I have been trying to identify a song for a while now and wondered if anybody can help from the sketchy details I have.

I saw the video on MTV around the mid '90s and don't know the band name - never seen them before or since!! - I think.
In the video the front man who sang the song sort of crouched down in front of the camera and sang. The thing that I remember is that he wore a hat - which constantly changed as he sang.

I seem to remember it being called something like ne na na na. However it certainly wasn't that ne na na Say Goodbye song.

I would be grateful for any pointers/help

What kind of music was it? Rock, pop, funk...?

The music was pop/rock.

I can see how you'd suggest Jamiriqui - the hat thing and the funky style words - however I can categorically say that it wasn't them.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated
