i have no clue...i hear it everywhere but never catch the name

ok i hear this song in stores and just about anytime when i have just forgotten about it or when i'm least expecting it (when i cant just stand there and listen for a name or really pay attention to the lyrics) its not by dirty vegas or alliayh...i thought it was by mandy moore but its not as far as i can tell and this site is a last resort for me cause its driving me crazy...

the lyrics are something like "she said the days go by i dont know why..." and that seems to be the only part i ever get to actually hear cause i'm always right in the middle of doing something and its really starting to piss me off lol so any help whatsoever will be great thank you!!!!!
