As indicated previously, I am cataloging a collection of 500 Soundies. While most are identifiable, because the titles were often cut off when they were reiussued by Castle, Blackhawk, and Official Films, some are still a mystery. The lyrics of this mystery Soundie, which was probably produced between 1940 and 1945, are:
Sweeter than sweet
And there's none to compete with Delilah
Arm full of charm
and a four dream alarm, that's Delilah
Angels tip their halos,
The moon straightens his tie
And weeping willows smile
as you go by.
Rarer and rarer there's none to compare with Delilah,
Heaven would be anywhere I could see my Delilah.
Why I grow strong as Samson
When you whisper I do
I'll hand you the world and
declare Delilah it's for you.
I tried many of the above phrases in the search feature, and nothing came up. Any help would be most appreciated. FYI, this is NOT "Sam and Delilah" from "Girl Crazy," by George and Ira Gershwin.
By the way, my first search was successful, with the Jan Garber site identifying the song as having been written by him; the song title allowed me to back into identifying the Soundie (sung by Bob Hannon, recorded by Ray Bloch and his Orchestra). I thanked the respondent by direct email, but couldn't figure out how to send the information to the forum. Any help would for this little thing would also be appreciated.
