Default need help to identify an old song from Canadian maritimes

I need some help to identify an old song. This song would have been popular in the Canadian maritimes, (Prince Edward Island) 1900 to 1950.

Possibly an old war song, perhaps Scottish, English or Civil War.

The title maybe " The Blue and The Grey"

Here are some of the lyrics: Tom and Ned were neighbours and went to fight in the war.

One was Blue and one was Grey and both were killed and when found, they both had Mary's tattoo on their arm.

If anyone can offer any information re: the title or the correct lyrics, it would be appreciated.

    Thanks Michael Walters

The Blue and The Grey is strongly identified with the uniform colors of the opposing sides in the American Civil War, also known as "The War Between the States". I would suggest that you try websites that focus on the American Civil War.

    Try the following website:

This site also has links to numerous other related sites.
