"laroh" recorded the last minute of this song from radio in '83 or 84. Here it is:

What I can make out of the lyrics, with unclear parts in brackets:

Any leads?

I have not had any luck finding a song with these lyrics. While the style and sound reminds me of the group Timbuk3, they did not release their first album until 1986.

I could be wrong but doesn't this sound just like Nick Lowe
