oldies/soul song from 60's/early-70's?

does anyone know the name&artist of a song that doesn't really have singing, but shouted interludes, followed by upbeat trumpety music, alternately? he keeps saying "turn it up!", and "do the _____" (which i can never figure out). its so catchy that i think it might be a one hit wonder. sounds like its from the late 60's or early 70's..
