Default Song from between 1990 and 1992

I've been trying to think of this song for literally about 2 years. It totally eludes me.

In the song, a man pretty much talks through the whole thing. There's really no singing.

I can't remember much, but at one point he talks about meeting a woman who talks with her eyes and she says "do you see what I'm saying?".

Every so often it breaks off into a "and then the horns played" or something like that, followed by a list of things he had talked about the song. Kind of a way of showing the progression.

I think I had this on a single and the other side was a song titled something like "She" or "Her". Another song where he talked about a mighty female warrior. I can't find any listing of this song either. Search after search after search.

I remembered having this single when I was driving my first car, so that would have placed it between 1990 and 1992.

Yeah, weird stuff, but I'd love it if anyone could help me. This has been bugging me so badly.

I don't suppose it's "WHEN CAN I SEE YOU AGAIN" by: Babyface?

I looked up the lyrics to WHEN CAN I SEE YOU AGAIN, it's definitely not random enough. This song was kind of weird. More like a story of his journey in his dream.

Thank you for your reply. It is so difficult when I can only remember little fragments. That's why it has taken me so long to remember. I should probably go to a hypnotist :P

Thanks again.

Pretty sure the first one is not it.

baz luhrmann's style totally sounds right, I just can't find the song by him. I remember the name of the songs only had one or two words in them.

Thank you for your help. I'll try and see if I can find any more by baz luhrmann.

I found a small sample of that song, and it didn't sound quite right. I remember a main beat, but there wasn't too much other music (I think). It would just be at the refrain, when he would say something like "and then the horns played" and then there would be horns and just a bit more music.

I should go see a hypnotist or something. Have them take me back so I could remember it. :P

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm sure someday I'll find it and if I do, I'll definitely share it with all of you!

This is a stretch for the time you're talking about but could it be

Lou Reed - Walk on the Wildside

It's an older song, but he pretty much talks the song and breaks out every now by saying "and the colored girls go do do do dood odoo"

Hopefully this is it.

Sounds like about the right speed. The one I remember, he was talking more. Although he's talking in this one, he's still kind of smoothing up the words, kind of singing them.

The one I'm thinking of sounds alot more like Baz Luhrman. I've gone through everything I can find of what he's done, but I can't find it.

I swear I'm going to have to go see a hypnotist.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I know the EXACT song you're talking about. And I need hypnosis as well! More bits that I remember, there was some sort of character of a big native fello in there, and he said along the lines of..."boom chakka wakka (>insert more of this<) wing chee, for what is now free" ... (I still have a snippet of this somewhere which has been recorded over unfortunately.)

The other thing I really vaguely remember is the DJ saying his name, and I think it MAY have been something normal like "Stephen" someone?? Some American guy anyway. I was wondering about comedian/songwriter Stephen Wright, but it's not really his style... The other thing which seems to be in the deep dark recess of my mind about this song - was there a swamp or lagoon in the lyrics??

I gotta pay more attention to these things....

Cheers!

Sounds to me like you're thinking of the right song. The disease is spreading!

I actually had a friend remind me of this song several years ago, I have yet to be able to remember it's name or find it. Good to know I'm not just making it up! It's driving me absolutely nuts.

I think the lady that talked with her eyes and said, "Do you see what I'm saying?" might have been around a lake, lagoon, or something like that.

I really wish I could put this to rest.

Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone.

do you remember what was on the cover of the CD/Tape? Also, I know you said he/she talks through pretty much the whole song, but if you could categorize it, what category would you put the song in - rock, easy, . . .

Thumbs up I Found It!!!!!!!!!!

The name of the song is:

This is Ponderous and it's by 2nu.

haha!

Enjoy

Might I also recommend the song "common people" by william shatner - it's funny and actually pretty catchy and similar

Song: http://www.2nu2.com/audio/2NU-This_Is.m3u

Lyrics:http://www.lyricsdownload.com/two-nu...us-lyrics.html

(in case the link doesn't work)
I had this dream the other night
I went to work, but nobody remembered who I was, so
I decided to take the day off

On my way out, I ran into my boss
He said, Hey, you look familiar.
I said Thanks, people say that alot in these dreams

And then the horns kicked in
And my shoes started to squeak

Then all of the sudden, I find myself on some faraway tropical beach
And there's this sign there that says
Aren't you supposed to be at work?
Sort of screamed out at me
Then I remembered. I'd been here before in other dreams.
Usually there was a water polo game
And a girl who could talk with her eyes.
And she'd say, "Can you see what I'm saying?"

And then the horns kicked in
And my shoes started to squeak

Then I find myself walking near this lake
And the phone rings
And the operator speaks to me in a language I don't understand

Ooom poppa chikamaga wana sing gow
Do lomma sinnigama mana ching jow
Inimana choogamaga wana sing gee
Finimana foonimana one is now free

Then the horns kicked in
And my shoes started to squeak

Now we're coming up on this really wierd part of my dream
You know, the part where I know how to tapdance
But I can only do it while wearing golf shoes
Then I'm walking again with the girl who can talk with her eyes
This time she says, "I think you see what I'm saying"
Then just before I woke up, it started to rain in southern california

Ooom poppa chikamaga wana sing gow
Do lomma sinnigama mana ching jow
Inimana choogamaga wana sing gee
Finimana foonimana one is now free

Aren't you supposed to be at work?
The girl who could talk with her eyes.
"Can you see what I'm saying?"
This is ponderous man, really ponderous.
