    Default Solved: 1940 - 1960's song for our nan

    My husband's nan passed away this weekend and we've been asked by his grandfather to find a song for her funeral.

    We think the song is from when they were our age, between the 1940's - 50's, although it may be as late as the early 60's.

    Our grandfather thinks the name of the song was "We strolled along the lanes together" by Issy or Izzy Bond. That could be the chorus, we don't know. We've googled it, tried the Issy and Izzy, Bond or Vaughn, or any variation thereof.

    We have a couple of days to find the song, but anyone who might know who could be of any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanx.

    My condolences for your loss. we'll do our best to help.

    Could the singer be Issy Bonn? ...or are we looking for a female

    Here's a few samples, maybe you might recognise the voice

    Together by Shirley Temple, Frank Sinatra, others ?? If so, I'll try to locate the other artist . EDIT: Looks like Mumbles came through again. Go here: http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/...ng+Stylist.htm

    Together, together,
    Always together,
    That's how it used to be.
    Together, Together,
    heedless of weather,
    Now there is only me, dear.

    We strolled the lane, together;
    Laughed at the rain, together,
    Sang love's refrain, together.

    And we'd both pretend,
    It would never end.
    One day we cried, together,
    Cast love aside together.

    You're gone from me;
    But in my memory,
    We always will be together.

    Remember, remember,
    Do you remember?
    Love was a flame in May.
    But, now in December,
    love is an ember,
    'Cause you have gone away, dear.

    We strolled the lane, together;
    Laughed at the rain, together,
    Sang love's refrain, together.

    We knew long ago,
    That our love would grow.
    Through storm and sun together,
    Our hearts as one together.

    You're gone from me,
    But in my memory,
    We always will be together.

    Thanks Mumbles. Would have never found the correct artist without you. These are the kind of "finds" that make it all worthwhile. Very glad to help out cel 1999. Give your loved ones our best. Here's a site where you can purchase the individual song. Song #17.

    Wanted to tell you the rest of the story.

    I downloaded the song to my blackberry and took it with me over to Poppa's house last night. He's a vibrant old man who has been so intent on sending Nanna out in style.

    When he heard the song, he immediately started singing the song. He new every single word, and by the end of it we were both in tears.

    He told me to tell you thank you for all your kindness and help. It's so nice to see that there are still such wonderful people in the world. This means so much to both of us.

    Thank you so much.
